Are you still carrying something that happened yesterday, last week, or even last year?
If you feel weighed down by past events, it may be time to pause and gently ask yourself a simple question:
Why am I still holding on to this?
Holding onto emotional weight can quietly drain your energy, focus, and confidence. The good news is that letting go does not have to be complicated.
Below is a simple yet powerful exercise to help you release emotional burdens and create space for clarity and freedom.
A Simple Exercise to Let Go
1. Centre Yourself
Before you begin, take a moment to ground yourself.
Take one deep breath in.
Then take another one.
Allow your body to slow down and arrive fully in this moment.
2. Identify the Burden
Think about the specific thing you are still carrying from your past.
It could be a conversation, a mistake, a disappointment, or something left unsaid.
Once it is clear in your mind, take a piece of paper and write it down.
Do not analyse it.
Do not judge it.
Simply get it out of your head and onto the page.
3. The Act of Physical Release
Read what you have written back to yourself.
Now comes the release.
Take the paper and physically rip it apart. Tear it, shred it, and break it into the smallest pieces you can. This physical action helps your nervous system understand that something is changing.
You are no longer holding it.
4. Verbalise Your Freedom
Once the paper is torn, complete the process by speaking to yourself out loud.
Say:
“It’s time to let it go.
It’s time to release the heavy weight I’m carrying.”
By combining physical action with spoken words, you send a clear signal to your mind that this burden no longer belongs to you.
A Final Thought
Letting go does not mean forgetting.
It means choosing not to carry what no longer serves you.
You deserve lightness, clarity, and space to move forward.
May I invite you to ask yourself:
What would feel different if you stopped carrying this today?
